Training Activity Details:
25 young cultural professionals from 5 countries came together to explore the intersection of art, cultural management, and creative strategy. Clearly Culture hosted the week in partnership with the VMI-Vienna Music Institute, bringing top experts, hands-on challenges, and inspiring cultural experiences to the group. Here’s a brief recap of how the week unfolded:
Day 1: We kicked things off at VMI, met the group, dove into our case study challenges, and set the tone for the week. Leonie Hodkevitch (Clearly Culture) shared tools for building real-world European cultural projects. Simon Raab, the manager of the jazz band ‘PURPLE IS THE COLOR’, gave valuable insights from the music industry. We ended the day with a live concert by VMI students!
Day 2: During the second day, we explored the art of sponsorship! Leonie took us through the process of how to build meaningful partnerships; then we met with a VMI sponsor to hear how it works in practice. In the evening, Yara Enev led the “Vienna Riddle Tour”, a playful, poetic walk through the city’s hidden stories.
Day 3:Giuseppe Ravi, creator of Respiro e Movimento, taught us how to use movement and breath to improve presence and performance. Zeno Stanek, Founder and Artistic Director Schrammel.Klang.Festival and HIN&WEG Festival, shared what it takes to build and run successful festivals. We wrapped up the day with “CineSound”, a live reinterpretation of iconic film soundtracks at VMI.
Day 4:We spent the day with some of Vienna’s cultural leaders, such as Leonora Scheib (Wiener Festwochen Festival), Sabina Schebrak (CultureWorks), and Christoph Huber (Porgy & Bess). Leonie returned with a practical session on audience development. In the evening, we attended a jazz concert at Porgy & Bess featuring ‘Purple is the Color’.
Day 5: We ended the week with inspiring presentations by our amazing future cultural managers! All case studies showed how much they have learned, created, and grown in just five days. We ended the program with a shared sense of purpose, new friendships, and big ideas for the future.
